A Life-Long Passion for Learning

Charlotte Mason was a great advocate of the concept that the mind feeds on ideas. It is essential to put our children in touch with the best minds – the best known authorities on each subject. It is important to expose our children to learned men and women who have a deep love and passion for their particular field. This will ignite a similar passion for learning in children.

She advocated a generous curriculum with many subjects, thereby allowing the child to make associations between a variety of topics. Each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3 : 11

Consider the surface area of the base of a matchbox. Imagine building a tower that has a foundation footprint the size of the base of a matchbox. You would not be able to build a very tall or stable tower on such a small foundation.

Now imagine the surface area of a sports field. How big a tower could you build on such a large footprint? Now imagine that the sports field represents a generous curriculum comprising many subjects and many books, how comprehensive an education could we build on such a foundation!

Love2Learn subscribes to the philosophy that education must be broad, rich and varied, in order for our children to exit their school days as learned men and women. This is evidenced in our broad subject range and selection of great living books. Moreover they should graduate with a life-long love for books and learning firmly entrenched!
