What About University Entrance?

In the high-school years, home-schooled children often develop into independent learners, who adopt a similar approach to their learning as university students.  They learn to assimilate information, independently from you, directly from the books they read.  They process the material critically, and re-synthesize it into their own meaningful and creative conceptual whole.    This is one of the reasons why home-schooled children perform well at university; they have simply been operating as university students at home for some time before they reach their undergraduate studies!

On a practical level Love2Learn provides you with the resources to study for and write Cambridge IGCSE’s, Cambridge As-Levels and potentialy Cambridge A-Levels.

In South Africa, the matriculation board recognizes IGCSE’S and AS-Levels as excellent school leaving qualifications. Admittance to major South African Universities is available to any learner who has passed these examinations (with reasonable results of course!).

In addition to this, these qualifications are recognized at Universities in over 150 countries worldwide!

It is important, as the parent of a high-school learner, to make yourself very familiar with the entrance requirements of the top three universities on your list.  Ensure that your high school subject selection fully satisfies university admission criteria for your son or daughter’s chosen field of study.

However, even more critical than this, it is essential to determine the university’s approach to teaching from a Godly and sound biblical perspective.  If your teenager is going to be living on the campus, what churches are available to them? Bear in mind that the criteria for choosing a university go way beyond simply ensuring strong academic delivery!
